There’s something incredibly satisfying about biting into a perfectly crispy waffle. The golden-brown exterior gives way to a light and fluffy interior, creating a delightful contrast in textures.
And let’s be honest, most waffles don’t ever get crisp on the outside. They look like they should be, but when you go to take them off, you find they’re soft as a pillow. That may be perfect and great for some people! But for others, my husband, for example, will only eat them if they’ve got that crispness on the outside!
Whether you’re enjoying them for breakfast, brunch, or even dessert, crispy waffles are a versatile and delicious treat that can be paired with a variety of toppings and sides.

Serving Suggestions
To make your crispy waffles even more enjoyable, consider pairing them with these delicious toppings and sides:
- Classic Maple Syrup and Butter: A timeless combination that enhances the waffle’s flavor without overpowering it.
- Peanut Butter, Honey, and Fresh Fruit: My personal favorite! Spread a layer of peanut butter, a drizzle of honey, and some fresh berries!
- Fresh Fruit and Whipped Cream: Top your waffles with a medley of fresh berries, sliced bananas, or peaches, and a dollop of freshly hand-whipped cream for a refreshing and indulgent treat.
- Cocoa Hazelnut Butter and Strawberries: Spread a generous layer of Nutella (or Whole Foods alternative) on your waffles and top with sliced strawberries for a decadent dessert-like breakfast.
- Savory Options: For a savory twist, try topping your waffles with crispy bacon, a fried egg, and a drizzle of hot sauce or hollandaise. A piece of fried chicken or chicken tender is always a big brunch hit as well!
